Perflex Cleaning Wand

Jet-Action Wand DE Pool Filter Cleaner

The Perflex Jet-Action Cleaning Wand from Hayward® attaches to a garden hose to quickly clean FlexTubes, TM vertical grids and cartridge elements with minor disassembly.

How to Use the Hayward Jet-Action Cleaning Wand

To Clean a Perflex Pool Filter

  1. Attach a garden hose to the DE Pool Filter Cleaner Jet-Action Cleaning Wand. (Note that normal hose pressure will create a powerful jet spray. Use care to protect yourself and others when directing the cleaning wand's spray. Turn off the valve when the wand is not in use.)

  2. Turn off the pool pump. Bump the Perflex pool filter six to eight times. Close suction and discharge valves (if any). Open either the drain valve or the drain plug and allow the pool filter to drain as in normal cleaning.

  3. When the pool filter has drained, insert the Jet-Action Cleaning Wand through the drain opening and turn on the hose. (Note that certain models of Perflex pool filters may have a threaded gauge / inspection port. This may be used as an alternative access for inserting the Cleaning Wand). Use the sight tab located near the hose / valve end to determine where the spray is being directed.

  4. Clean for several minutes, rotating the Cleaning Wand to either side until DE stops coming out of the dtain. Turn off the water and remove the Cleaning Wand.

  5. Close the drain / valve opening.

To Clean a Vertical Grid Pool Filter

  2. Turn off the pool filter system. Close suction and discharge valves. Bleed any air from the pool filter tank.

  3. Remove the clamp and open the pool filter.

  4. Turn on the hose and use the Cleaning Wand to clean dirt and excess DE from between the grids.

  5. Once the pool filter grids are clean, reassemble the pool filter and restart the pool filter system following the manufacturer's instructions.
